About David Dahl
Good design is a form of respect. Respect on the part of the producer, directed to the person who will eventually purchase the product, use the product, own the product. This is the guiding principle for Dahl Furniture.
David was raised in Kent, Ohio, but professionally nurtured in Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati in 1984 then ventured west. He combines Midwestern ideals with a coastal aesthetic that net comfortable, durable and enduring designs.
After graduation, David joined John Caldwell Design in Pasadena, California. Over the next few years, he worked on contract furniture projects with clients such as Thonet, Arcadia, Woodard and Condi.
In 1992, he launched Dahl Furniture, creating custom residential and office pieces. He also began designing seating for the contract market. His hands-on approach – David builds his own scale models and prototypes to ensure seating comfort – has made him a sought-after partner.
